Database-as-a-Service in a Flash
Live Event Date: November 5, 2014 @ 1:00 p.m. ET / 10:00 a.m. PT
A crucial factor that Enterprise customers have identified as they migrate towards Cloud architectures is the notion of Database-as-a-Service. DBaaS is a critical aspect of the Software Defined Datacenter paradigm and is a key initiative that will enable rapid application development. The idea is to allow database consumers such as application developers, testers, and architects and owners to provision databases easily and quickly using an on-demand, self-service platform. However, performance, and in particular storage performance, is often the limiting factor which holds back a DBaaS project. Traditional disk based storage cannot meet the performance needs for DBaaS and is inherently too complicated to manage. The solution? All flash storage. This session will outline reference architectures for deploying highly performant, easy to manage DBaaS environments using VMware vCAC and Oracle DB 12 c with an all-flash Pure Storage array.
